Safer Communities Forum - Working Together for a Better West Yorkshire Part 6: Drugs and Alcohol Misuse and the Impact on Communities and Crime

Tuesday 10th September 2019

This event was the sixth in a series funded jointly by West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Bradford Council.

Jon Royle, CEO of The Bridge Project and Co-chair of the Safer Communities Forum, started the event with a presentation on drug treatment policy and context. Vicki Beere and Sam Broadley of Project 6, a Keighley based drug and alcohol charity, presented on their work. Police Sergeant Claire Stothers and Jess Clayton, Force Drugs Coordinator, of West Yorkshire Police, presented on integrated offender management. Finally, Tony Gibson of The Bridge Project spoke on his personal journey from addiction to recovery.

The event was attended by around 50 people who fed back on work that is being done in the voluntary sector around drugs and alcohol misuse, where there are gaps and what can be done to address this.
